The DON will be responsible and accountable for the overall management of the Nursing Department and oversees all clinical areas of Clark at Franklin. Clark is a life plan community with a continuum of care that includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing. The DON performs all duties using independent judgment and discretion to implement regulations and policy.
The expected salary range for this role is $105,000 - $110,000 annually.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- BSN preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a supervisor in a long term care facility, hospital, or other related health care facility
- Experience in geriatric and rehabilitative nursing practices

Essential Job Functions
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the nursing services, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern long-term care.
- Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision.
- Monitors care to ensure that residents are treated with kindness, dignity and respect.
- Participate in surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
- Reports and investigates all allegations of resident abuse, neglect, misappropriation and injuries of unknown origin.
- Assist the Quality Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
- Develops, maintains and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational polices while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Develops, maintains and implements a program for monitoring communicable and/or infectious diseases among residents, staff and visitors.
- Participates in admission process.
- Facilitates and or leads daily or weekly team meetings/huddles to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident complaints or concerns.
- Serves on, participates in and attends various committees.
- Determines the staffing needs of the nursing department to meet the total needs of the residents.
- Often works beyond normal working hours which may include weekends and holidays when necessary
- Participates in the hiring and recruitment process in partnership with Human Resources
- Directs and assists with the evaluation of the work performance of all nursing personnel, and provides coaching assistance as needed.
- Collaborates with physicians and physician extenders to ensure medical services are delivered to residents in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Assists with the development of in-service training programs.
