Automation Analyst - Facilities Management * Days - 40hrs/wk

Shift: Days

General Summary:

This position provides informational technology services for Metro Health facilities under the direction and supervision of the Engineering/Maintenance Department to ensure comfortable, efficient, continuous and compliant facility operation.
Requirements:

  1. Must have associate’s technical degree or equivalent experience.
  2. Bachelor of Science degree in engineering preferred.
  3. Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license.
  4. Must have experience and understanding of servers and personal computers with their peripheral devices such as monitors, printers, scanners, modems and storage drives.
  5. Must have experience and understanding of Windows 7, XP, NT, Microsoft Office products, CMMS software and other computer productivity tools.
  6. Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats and establish/maintain close working relationships with all levels of staff, internal customers, design professionals, contractors and vendors.
  7. Must have good troubleshooting skills and experience.
  8. Preferred to have a basic familiarity and understanding of facility automation hardware architecture and protocols.
  9. Preferred to have a basic familiarity and understanding of facility construction, utilities, equipment and HVAC systems.
  10. Preferred to have experience in healthcare environment and a working knowledge of healthcare accreditation standards.
  11. General maintenance mechanic hand tools are required. Rolling tool box and battery-operated drill are provided. Shop is equipped with welders, grinder, band saw, table saw, drill press, pipe threader, oxyacetylene torch, pipe wenches, circular saw, vacuum cleaners, step ladders, testing equipment, etc.
  12. Must be able to work 40 hours a week plus extended work hours when required. Must be willing to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays when emergency repair work arises, shift coverage is needed or the work requires special scheduling.
  13. Must be willing to develop a high level of skill and knowledge in all areas of medical facility maintenance and stay abreast of current technological issues in order to make the best positive contribution to patient care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Implements, updates, monitors, evaluates, maintains and services all automated facility systems including, but not limited to:
    1. Energy management systems (Tracer Summit, Auto. Logic Control, & Tridium)
    2. HVAC controllers
    3. Card and keypad access controls
    4. Lighting controllers
    5. Pneumatic tube system
    6. Clock systems
    7. Nurse call systems
    8. Security and fire alarms
  2. Provides technical direction and support to Maintenance Department users and coordinates directly with Clinical Engineering, Information Services and Facility Services and indirectly with other departments.
  3. Maintains, optimizes, modifies and updates current computerized maintenance management system (CMMS - currently Four Rivers TMS) and evaluates options and alternative systems to maintain an effective, efficient system.
  4. Maintains and updates assets, instructions, schedules, codes, reports, etc. to maintain an accurate, useful database system for all facilities.
  5. Manages maintenance improvement and/or repair projects from concept through completion including investigation, design, budgeting, scheduling, infection control risk assessment (ICRA) compliance, implementation, startup and final review/documentation.
  6. Provides troubleshooting and problem resolution support to maintenance staff and facility equipment and system specification for construction projects.
  7. Notices and corrects or creates work orders for damage or issues observed during travel through the facilities.
  8. Continuously looks for and suggest ways to improve the procedures and performance of the Maintenance Department.
  9. Continuously improves existing knowledge and skills and expand experience and familiarity with Metro facilities and equipment wherever possible.
  10. Stays current on and follows Metro and department policies, procedures and instructions.
  11. Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Facility Manager and/or Director of Facility Support Services with regular and predictable attendance.
