Graphic Designer

Summary of the Role

The Graphic Designer plays a vital role in supporting the Advancement Department. This role works under the direction of the Director of Marketing to provide quality, engaging graphics that are representative of the Mel Trotter brand and communicate the intended message in a clear, concise way. The Graphic Designer will create and edit content that will be viewed by the public in the form of logos, newsletters, social media posts, video, and other mediums. The job will require the use of Adobe Creative Suite to create this content and present it in a professional manner. While collaboration with other members of the Advancement Department will play a role, the Graphic Designer will also be expected to exercise their creative abilities and come up with original ideas to fulfill a particular need or assignment.

Job Plan

•Creating designs using layout software, photo editing software, and digital illustration

•Creating logos and graphics to complement various projects for both internal and external communication purposes

•Selecting colors and typefaces for these projects that are in line with Mel Trotter branding guidelines

•Ensure written materials and visual imagery of graphics, photography and videography (including the website and projects) maintain brand standards

•Review/approve flyers and ensure all internal and public posting displays for MTM adhere to MTM standards

•Collaborating with the Marketing Specialist, under the direction of the Advancement Operations Manager, to accomplish goals within the Advancement Department

•Presenting design concepts and communicating them in a clear way

•Working with the Marketing Specialist to create engaging photo and video content for social media

•Serve as in-house photographer on an as needed basis

•Coordinate ordering all promotional materials that include the MTM brand or logo

Qualifications

•Degree or certification in digital art & design or a similar field preferred, but not required

•Minimum 3 years of related experience

•Familiar with graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, CoreIDraw, and Canva.

•Excellent interpersonal skills, and professional verbal and written communication

•Able to create engaging, interesting content that accurately represents the MTM brand

•Productive independent worker and positive team participant with excellent relationship building skills

•Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail and timeliness

•Proficient with Microsoft Office
