Internal Medicine – Core Faculty – MD/DO
University of Michigan Health-West is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced faculty physician to teach residents in the ambulatory/outpatient setting and assist with curriculum development for the University of Michigan Health-West Internal Medicine Residency Program located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Internal Medicine Core Faculty Physician will provide medical care for patients in the ambulatory setting with their own continuity clinics and precepting University of Michigan Health-West Internal Medicine Residents. The faculty physician will be an integral part of the

OPPORTUNITY DETAILS:
- To act as a supervising physician at the University of Michigan Health-West Community Health Center
- To assist the Program Director in the administration of the residents’ clinical duties, including evaluation of the residents, and attendance at relevant GME meetings.
- To work diligently to improve and ensure the quality of the educational objectives of the residency program while working in conjunction with the Department of Internal Medicine and the Program Director.
- To assist the Program Director and the Designated Institutional Official in the recruitment and retention of residents for the Residency Program.
- To work with the Program Director and the department of Internal Medicine to develop additional faculty and encourage participation in the training of residents, including Journal Club, morning report, special study sessions, and other similar activities.
- Actively participate in the Department of Internal Medicine and the hospital medical staff at University of Michigan Health-West.
- Represent the program and attend, as requested, supporting organizations’ meetings, such as the Statewide Campus System with input from the Program Director.
- Collaborate and cooperate with all hospital committees such as Utilization Management, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, and Patient Safety.
- Maintain a uniform charting system using University of Michigan Health-West’s EMR (EPIC).
- Assist, by participation, in meeting the lecture requirements of the program with input from the Program Director.
- Attend relevant business meetings and faculty meetings of University of Michigan Health-West Community Health Center.
- Teach appropriate documentation to residents with respect to all clinic patient encounters. Adhere to the Hospital’s corporate compliance standards regarding proper documentation relative to the teaching physician supervision of interns and residents.
- Adhere to PATH (Physicians at Teaching Hospitals) guidelines for documentation and billing.
- Participation in the lecture schedule
