Clark is looking for an Environmental Services Supervisor to lead our dedicated Housekeeping, Floor Care and Laundry team! In this role you will ensure that housekeeping and laundry services are maintained at the highest level of customer satisfaction in our senior living community. You will lead and train all staff to ensure that all State and Federal guidelines are being met and Clark is ready to shine! The Environmental Services Supervisor will support the mission; resident life, health, and wellness philosophy; and the code of professional ethics of BHI Retirement Communities, Inc (Clark Retirement). This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt opportunity.
At minimum, this role requires a High School Diploma or GED, two years of experience in a leadership role, and strong knowledge of housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance practices, regulations, and standards.
Essential Duties
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to environmental services staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Set clear expectations for performance, conduct regular inspections, and provide ongoing feedback to ensure quality standards are met.
- Coordinate daily environmental services activities, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to established protocols and standards.
- Monitor inventory levels for cleaning supplies and linens, replenishing as needed and maintaining accurate records.
- Conduct regular inspections of resident rooms, common areas, and other facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Address any maintenance issues or cleanliness concerns promptly, coordinating with maintenance staff and other departments as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to address residents' needs and concerns related to environmental services in a timely and professional manner.
- Build positive relationships with residents, family members, and staff, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in service delivery.
- Overview of supervision duties:
- Participates in the hiring process for the environmental services department and is responsible for employee disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Supervises all environmental services staff.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates personnel within the department using facility approved written forms.
- Uses honesty and accuracy in evaluating job performance of department personnel.
- Initiates disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Administer personnel policies and/or all applicable facility policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Reviews and approves timecards for direct reports
- Performs other duties as directed by the Director and Manager of Environmental Services.
- Teamwork and participation:
- Maintains an effective relationship with all departments and professional staff; and actively participates in the facility’s risk management program and on other facility committees, special projects, etc., as directed.
- Participates in peer reviews and peer interviews.
- Reporting and response:
- Immediately reports verbally or in writing unusual resident behavior to supervisory personnel.
- Immediately reports verbally or in writing concerns expressed by family members, visitors, or other persons visiting the community to supervisory personnel.
- Immediately communicates, either verbally or in writing, any problems or concerns to his/her supervisor.
- Reports all equipment malfunctions/breakdowns and other maintenance needs to the director of nursing and requests a written maintenance work order.
- Responds to emergency situations effectively and efficiently and, in case of an emergency, provides direct assistance to residents in evacuating buildings.
- Training Requirements:
- Attends required in-service meetings and departmental staff meetings and completes any written, verbal, or visual requirements.
- Receives knowledge of and demonstrates the ability to perform all fire & safety, tornado, and disaster evacuation procedures and participates in all subsequent life safety and disaster preparedness training exercises.
- Maintains knowledge and training in bloodborne pathogen exposure control plan and universal precautions.
- Attends continuing educational workshops and seminars as directed.
