Cardiac Sonographer/Vascular Sonographer - Cardiovascular * Days - 40hrs/wk (SIGN-ON BONUS)

Shift: Days

General Summary:

The Cardiac Sonographer performs routine and/or specialized cardiac ultrasound exams. The echocardiographer acquires/analyzes data using diagnostic medical ultrasound and related technologies providing calculations/data for medical staff interpretations.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited college, university or program
  • Must be registered by the ARDMS or CCI and possess RDCS or RCS credentials in Adult Echo. Dual registration in Adult and Pediatric preferred.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform routine and specialized echocardiograms using {M-mode, 2D, Color/ Spectral Doppler, and related technologies} in accordance with SDMS, ASE, ICEAL, ARDMS and ACC/AHA standards/guidelines.
  2. Perform and assist with graded exercise and pharmalogical stress echocardiographic procedures {Supine Bike Stress Echo, Treadmill Stress Echo, Dobutamine Stress Echo}.
  3. Coordinates/ assists with performing Transesophogeal Echocardiograms and optimizing echocardiographic images and data.
  4. Operate, maintain and optimize ultrasound and related equipment.
  5. Transport ultrasound equipment to patient units as required performing bedside exams.
  6. Travel and transport equipment to off-site locations to perform duties.
  7. Review patient charts and performs patient assessments to optimize and perform symptom-focused procedures. Acquire and analyze data to provide/prepare worksheets for medical staff review and interpretation.
  8. Function in an educational capacity for patients, patients’ family, nurses, physicians, and other audiences relative to skill.
  9. Participate in departmental/hospital quality assurance and clinical competency process.
  10. Cover a required amount of on-call responding to off-hour/ emergent calls {24/7}.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to: Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
