GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs special processes using a variety of equipment (e.g. MIG welders) in a manufacturing setting. Supports customer satisfaction with a high quality product delivered in a timely manner. It is expected that the welder will take ownership, problem solve and seek continuous improvement. All work must be completed with a high regard for the safety of others and oneself.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Completes required documentation (charts, logs, checklists)
  • Consistently performs quality checks by utilizing gauges and metrology equipment, makes adjustments as required to produce assemblies to print.
  • Creates or modifies weld fixtures to secure components during welding.
  • Interprets engineering drawings of assemblies and components to perform specialized, non-repetitive MIG welding. Visualizes finished product and produces assemblies that consistently meet print requirements.
  • Maintains clean, safe, working environment according to 5s and department safety guidelines. Performs additional responsibilities as requested.
  • Performs production tasks by operating various pieces of equipment as required (saws, drill presses, benders, etc.) Performs work by following standard procedures, and requests changes to standard work when needed.
  • Performs work efficiently and meets daily production quantity requirements; works overtime as required Verifies weld quality and integrity, and performs weld quality tests, both destructive and non-destructive.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or its equivalent.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings for assemblies and components and visualize finished product.
  • Ability to access and use information systems, i.e., routing displays, draw view, MRP system. Must be able to use a personal computer for a variety of tasks
  • Ability to perform basic math skills such as adding and subtracting.
  • Ability to use required measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, tape measure, etc.
  • Able to read, understand, communicate, and interpret written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies and practices, etc., which are written in the English language.
  • Able to bend, twist, and stand for up to 10-12 hours. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude
  • Willing to be flexible with work assignments and possible hours as business needs require.
  • Able to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals. Commit to team success through reliable attendance.
  • Willing to adapt to a continually changing environment.
