MillerKnoll is looking for a Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer for MillerKnoll focusing on our MillerKnoll, Herman Miller, Knoll and Design within Reach (DWR) brands reporting to the President, Global Retail. As a visionary Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) you will lead the global marketing strategy and will be responsible for driving the overall marketing vision, strategy, execution, and measurement within our Global Retail Business, and supporting our Contract (Americas and International) channel with relevant brand marketing strategies. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in luxury furnishings brand management, exceptional leadership and organizational savvy skills, and a strong understanding of both consumer marketing dynamics. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Marketing Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the vision, values, and business goals of the portfolio of brands and drives customer acquisition, engagement and retention.
- Collaborate closely with the sales teams to align marketing initiatives with sales objectives
- Lead the development of long-term and short-term marketing plans to enhance brand positioning, awareness, and demand generation across retail and contract channels.
- Oversee the creation of annual and quarterly marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources to support strategic priorities.
Brand Positioning & Performance Marketing:
- Spearhead the brand positioning efforts, working closely with each respective brand’s Creative Directors and Product Leaders to ensure consistent and compelling brand stories that resonates with the lifestyle and residential customers, interior designers, architects, and contract clients.
- Oversee the marketing strategy, including content marketing, SEO/SEM, return ad spend, social media, direct mail, media buys, influencer partnerships, retargeting, and email marketing.
- Translate creative direction in to design for all marketing materials, ensuring they reflect the quality, craftsmanship, and exclusivity of the brand.
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders such as business leaders, designers, architects, wholesale partners, sales associates, and dealers, to enhance brand presence and market reach.
Market Research and Insights:
- Monitor and analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities in both the residential and contract segments.
- Provide strategic insights to inform product development, pricing strategies, and promotional campaigns.
- Engage with and learn from our sales organizations, dealer networks, and retail partners.
- Leverage data-driven decision-making to refine marketing strategies and optimize marketing campaigns ensuring a profitable return on investment
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Regularly report on marketing performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership for continuous improvement.
Marketing Operations & Creative Studio Management:
- Oversee all marketing operations, including the management of in-house photo and creative studios to ensure high-quality and on-brand content creation.
- Supervise the production process for marketing collateral, photography, video content, and product shoots to meet deadlines and budget requirements.
- Ensure the creative studio operates efficiently, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to streamline processes, maximize output, and maintain consistency across all marketing materials; continuously looking for opportunities to find efficiency, decision making, and cross-functional ways of working
- Manage the development and production of assets for both digital and traditional media channels, including print, social, web, and e-commerce.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Build and lead a high-performing marketing team, mentoring and developing talent to achieve marketing goals.
- Create people strategies including organizational structure, attract and hire strong talent, create succession plans and lead an engaged team.
- Drive a culture of creativity, accountability, and performance within the marketing organization.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior marketing leadership role. Experience in the luxury furniture, home goods, or high-end consumer goods industry is strongly preferred.
- Ability to develop short to long term operational plans (e.g. 3-5) years in support of an integrated marketing strategy
- Prior experience with P+L responsibility, proven ability to deliver measurable financial results.
- Exceptional people leadership skills; responsible for coaching and developing team members
- Expert-level knowledge of furniture and the home furnishings landscape
- Successful experience working, and thriving, in a matrix organizational structure
- Adept at collaborating and influencing cross functionally
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
- High level of personal integrity and business ethics
- Willingness to take initiative and accept accountability with a strong sense of ownership over your work
- Embraces an entrepreneurial mindset
- Able to develop constructive and effective relationships with direct report team and cross-functional partners; able to maintain credibility and presence within the broader business.
- Proven ability to operate both at high level and dive into details
- Travel required up to 50% of time
