Manager - Radiology Operations - Days * 40hrs/wk

General Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Radiology, the Radiology Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned modalities within the Imaging Department. This role plays a pivotal part in advancing health to serve patients by ensuring safe, inclusive, and high-quality radiology services. The Operations Manager will lead efforts to enhance patient and staff experiences, implement innovative programs, manage operational and salary budgets, and foster strategic growth within the department. The manager is responsible for nurturing a culture of belonging, ensuring equitable access to services, and promoting continuous improvement in alignment with the organization's mission and values.

Requirements:

  • Satisfactory completion of formal imaging program and hold current board registry from ARRT or ARDMS or NMTCB.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Masters or Doctorate degree with focus in leadership preferred.
  • Five (5) years or more of related work experience in licensed imaging modality is necessary to have full understanding of radiological policies, procedures, and equipment maintenance
  • Three (3) years or more of demonstrated progressive responsibility, including supervisory experience.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification - Basic life support preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership for assigned personnel and develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with various hospital departments.
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to direct day-to-day operations ensure efficient schedules of personnel and respond to equipment malfunctions or team member relation problems.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of managerial expertise and administrative systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and financial reports.
  • Manage inspections in response to licensing and regulatory agencies requirements.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  1. Understands UMH-West goals and objectives and helps to develop a departmental plan, in conjunction with the Director, complete with long and short-term goals, including capital purchase and program development.
  2. Prepares, oversees, and manages the operational and salary budgets for assigned modalities, ensuring resource optimization to maintain high standards of care and service delivery.
  3. Conducts annual performance appraisals and recommends personnel actions such as hiring, termination, and corrective measures. Ensures that all staff are equipped to contribute meaningfully to department goals.
  4. Ensures appropriate staffing levels that meet patient-to-staff ratios, promoting operational efficiency while addressing the safety and inclusion of all team members and patients.
  5. Assures that radiation safety guidelines are communicated and followed. Tracks usage, facilitates education on safety protocols (radiation, employee, and patient), and implements action plans as needed to uphold the highest standards of safety and quality care.
  6. Continuously monitors processes for quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Leads and participates in quality improvement initiatives, aligning with organizational goals to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care.
  7. Implements new services in areas of responsibility to meet the evolving needs and improve access to advanced diagnostic services.
  8. Maintains licensing, accreditation, and inspection for all radiation-emitting imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable agencies and upholding the highest safety standards.
  9. Facilitates regular team meetings and leads by example. Encourages leadership growth in others through coaching, education, and formal leadership programs. Promotes a culture of belonging and inclusion across the department.
  10. Enhances patient and employee experiences by setting a high standard of customer service for all interactions, contributing to the overall satisfaction and retention of patients and staff.
  11. Engages in continuous professional development to maintain expertise in the field. Stays abreast of industry trends and best practices through formal and informal education, ensuring that personal and departmental growth aligns with organizational priorities.
  12. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned, including maintaining a thorough knowledge of departmental procedures and participating in committees, task forces, and workgroups aimed at strategic growth and improvement.
