This position supports the growth of the company by driving recognition, belonging, and talent strategies. This position does this by project managing and administering systems and platforms, continuously improving recognition & belonging and talent-related processes, and ensuring leaders, team members, and HR partners are receiving the support they need. Providing this support may require the position to develop and maintain materials such as projects plans, communication plans, data reports, leadership presentations, proposals, job guides, and other support resources. This position will play a key role in supporting programs, platforms, events and processes that result in high levels of team member engagement, development, retention, and performance.


Position follows hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Project manage and assist in the planning, communication, and administration of recognition and belonging programs and processes including but not limited to company recognition programs and culture and engagement surveys.
  • Serve as a co-system administrator for our recognition platform (mteam) with responsibilities to respond & support HR Representative and leadership questions or requests, plan and launch campaigns to drive a culture of recognition, administer company-wide and other large team/department recognitions, train administrative assistants, leaders and HR Representatives on system functionality, and collaborate with HR Analytics, IT, business partners, and/or vendors to pilot, test and deploy system enhancements.
  • Recognition and belonging systems & reporting expert, specifically related to mteam, select Workday reports and team member feedback and surveys.
  • Review team member feedback and respond to questions and escalated team member or leader concerns. Collaborate with HR Representatives, leaders and vendor partners to identify and troubleshoot any issues to resolve any concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Propose creative solutions, and plan, communication, project management, implementation, and evaluation of company-wide recognition and celebration events (e.g., team member appreciation events, service recognition celebrations).
  • Assist in project managing and administering our Meijer Legacy Award program. Recommend and support any needed changes to the nomination process, judging, and award presentations. Assist in preparing content and supporting materials for all phases of the program and manage the testing and import of nomination data in the software systems (mteam).
  • Interview leaders and write nomination submissions on behalf of Meijer team members and leaders for external awards such as FMI Store Manager of the Year, Top Women in Grocery, Progressive Grocer GenNext, and Top Women in Health, Beauty and Wellness, etc.
  • Administer the retirement celebration program including proposing ideas to make meaningful celebrations for our retirees, ensure retirement gift offerings are current and relevant, manage inventory levels, ensure timely shipment of celebration kits and gifts, and evaluate overall program for needed content or process changes.
  • Responsible for ensuring participants in recognition and belonging processes, programs, and events are equipped with relevant and accurate training and support materials. Provides both virtual and on-site training in support of onboarding and scheduled processes.
  • Help manage intake requests related to the administration of a program, process, or event. Responsibilities may include the execution of additional/new programs, processes, or events aligned to business priorities (e.g., a new or expanded program or event to recognize or reward team members, a new module added to mteam).
  • Lead efforts to modify or innovate recognition & belonging programs and processes. Works with HR Partners to better understand business needs. Assesses current state of programs and processes. Research industry best practices. Create recommendations for modifications to programs and processes.
  • Maintain an awareness of developments in the fields of recognition, team member engagement, talent management, and organizational change to ensure that the organization continues to leverage the latest thinking in the field.
  • Assist corporate campus engagement team in planning and executing corporate campus events.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a focus on Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, Organizational Development or a performance-related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of business and/or human resources experience.
  • Strong customer service, written and verbal communication skills, collaboration and project management skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word);
  • Quickly learn systems, processes, and procedures; Workday experience a plus.
  • Handle very sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Flexibility and ability to work effectively in a high-paced corporate environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, to perform ongoing prioritization and to operate successfully in ambiguous situations.
